You use double-sided carpet tape to fix carpet, rugs and floor coverings to the floor. The tape is sticky on both sides and can be torn by hand, so you don't need scissors. That keeps your carpet neatly in place. According to the product description, the tape is suitable for all types of carpet.

What is the difference between PP carpet tape and linen carpet tape?

PP tape is 38 mm wide and comes in rolls of 5 and 10 metres; linen tape is 50 mm wide and comes on a roll of 25 metres. Both are double-sided, yellow and can be torn by hand. Choose the width and length that suit your carpet and the room. The linen tape has a linen texture, the PP tape a PP texture.

How many metres of carpet tape do I need for my carpet?

Count the total length of all the edges and strips you want to fix. A 2 by 3 metre rug, for example, has a perimeter of 10 metres, so a 10-metre roll fits exactly. Not sure? Send the dimensions via WhatsApp and we will help you calculate.

Which vintage fabric suits an armchair from the 1950s to 1970s?

Gobelin or vintage faux leather suit best. Gobelin gives a classic, woven look with a pattern; Skai Arizona and Skai Boston have a slightly aged leather grain that looks retro straight away. Not sure? Send a photo via WhatsApp.

What is the difference between Skai Arizona and Skai Boston?

Arizona is PU faux leather with a natural grain and antique patina, supple and soft. Boston is PVC faux leather, sturdy yet supple, 1.2 mm thick, 590 g/m² and available in 8 colours. Both reach 100,000 Martindale. Arizona also complies with EN 1021-1 (fire safety).

Does the pattern of gobelin fabric wear off over time?

No. With gobelin the pattern is part of the weave itself (jacquard) and not a print, so the pattern does not wear off. Our gobelins have an abrasion resistance of 18,000 Martindale cycles. That way the retro pattern stays clearly visible even after years of use.

How much vintage fabric do I need if the pattern has to match?

Allow for extra metres, because with a woven-in pattern the motif repeats. Order everything at once, as fabrics from different batches can differ slightly in colour. Send your measurements via WhatsApp for a calculation. A large motif suits a sofa or a backrest better than a narrow chair seat.

How wide are gobelin and vintage faux leather by the metre?

Gobelin is 140 cm wide, Skai Arizona and Skai Boston are 138 to 140 cm wide. The faux leather is supplied from rolls of 30 metres, and you order the number of metres you need. That makes it easy to calculate how many metres you need for your piece of furniture.

Can I order a sample of vintage fabric first?

Yes. Private customers receive free samples and only pay the postage (shipping costs). Open the product page of the fabric and click 'Ontvang een sample' to assess the colour and texture at home next to your furniture. That way you see the grain or pattern and the colour for real.

What size is the packaging tape and what is it made of?

The packaging tape is 66 metres long and 50 mm wide (66 m by 50 mm). It is made of polypropylene (PP), 40 microns thick, and available in clear and brown. The tape is suitable for parcels and for storage.

Should I choose clear or brown packaging tape?

Choose clear if the contents or the label need to stay visible, and brown for a professional look on cardboard boxes. Both rolls have the same dimensions and the same material, so it is mostly a matter of taste. Both are 40 microns thick.

How do I wrap a pallet with stretch film?

Wrap the film around the load by hand, starting at the bottom and working in several layers. The pallet wrap is 20 microns thick, comes in boxes of 6 rolls of 1.8 kg, and conforms to the shape of the load. A full pallet of film holds 72 boxes. Wrap the film tightly for a stable load.

What sizes and thicknesses of mattress bags do you have?

The LDPE mattress bags are 0.08 mm (80 microns) thick and 2500 mm long, with widths from 1050 to 2100 mm, including 1050, 1150, 1250, 1350, 1650, 1850 and 2100. They are supplied in rolls of 50. There is a fitting size from single mattress to king size.

What do I use mattress bags for, and who uses them a lot?

You use mattress bags to protect mattresses from dust, dirt, scratches and moisture during storage and transport. They are widely used by removal companies, mattress shops and bed stores, but also by private individuals who are moving. The bags are made of LDPE and are 80 microns thick.

What is the difference between velvet, velours and corduroy?

Velvet (fluweel) and velvet are the same thing in practice: a fabric with a soft, dense pile. Velours is often used for a similar pile fabric, and corduroy has ribs, such as Corduroy (rib of about 1 cm) and Tilia (about 2.5 cm). More important than the name are the quality, weight and Martindale on the product page. Can't decide between two fabrics? A sample helps.

Which velvet is suitable for a sofa that is used every day?

Choose a fabric with a high Martindale value. Velvet glamour has more than 100,000 cycles, DOTS and Corduroy 90,000 to 100,000 and Mohair velvet 50,000 to 60,000. The value is stated with each product, so always check it and ask for advice if you're unsure. For wall panels, cushions and decorative pieces, a lighter quality is sufficient.

How wide is velvet fabric and how much do I need?

Our velvet fabric is usually 140 to 145 cm wide. For a chair you often need 1 to 2 metres, for a sofa quickly several metres. This is a guideline: measure your furniture and feel free to ask for advice. The exact width is on the product page. Note: with a pattern or a distinct pile, consumption may be higher.

Do I need to pay attention to the pile direction of velvet?

Yes, velvet has a distinct pile direction. Cut and process all parts in the same direction, otherwise colour and sheen look different. Take this into account when laying out your pattern, as it can cost extra fabric. This gives you an even end result.

How do I clean and care for velvet?

Vacuum regularly with a soft brush and carefully blot stains with a damp cloth, without rubbing. Many of our velvet fabrics are washable at 30 degrees, but this differs per fabric. So always check the product page.

Can I order a velvet sample first?

Yes. Private customers receive free samples and only pay the postage (shipping costs). Click the button 'Get a sample' on the product page; you can do this up to 4 times, so you can judge colour and feel at home. This way you see colour, pile and sheen in your own interior.

Is suede upholstery fabric strong enough for a sofa?

Yes. DEN Suede achieves more than 30,000 Martindale and has a very high tensile strength (up to 1509 N) and good tear resistance. The pilling rating is 4, so the fabric forms little fluff. For a sofa or chair that is used every day, that is an excellent basis.

What is the difference between suede upholstery fabric and real suede?

Suede upholstery fabric is textile, real suede is leather. DEN Suede is 100% polyester with the soft suede touch and the leather look. This makes the fabric easier to maintain and less sensitive to moisture than real suede leather. Always test a cleaning product on an offcut first.

Why does suede look a different colour depending on the direction?

That is due to the soft nap: the colour differs subtly depending on the direction of the stroke. So cut all parts of your furniture in the same direction, and you will get an even result. Pay particular attention to this when building a sofa or armchair from several parts. This prevents a seat or back from looking lighter or darker than the rest.

How do I clean suede upholstery fabric and keep it looking good?

Vacuum regularly with a soft brush attachment. Blot stains immediately with a dry, white cloth and dab without rubbing. Then brush the nap in one direction and always test cleaning products on an offcut first. This keeps the fabric looking good and evenly coloured for longer.

How much suede fabric do I need for a chair or armchair?

On average you need 1.5 to 2 metres for a dining chair without armrests and 6 to 8 metres for an armchair. With suede, take the nap direction into account. Send your measurements via WhatsApp and we'll help you calculate. DEN Suede is about 140 cm wide (usable) and weighs approx. 370 g/m². For a sofa, ask for advice.

Can I order a sample of suede fabric first?

Yes. Private customers receive free samples and only pay the postage (shipping costs). Open the product page of the fabric and click 'Get a sample'; this way you can judge colour and texture at home next to your furniture. You feel the soft suede touch and see the colour in your own interior.

What types of upholstery fabric are there?

Chenille, gobelin, velvet, linen, bouclé, faux leather, printed fabrics and jacquard are upholstery fabrics with unique properties. Chenille and velvet offer luxury and comfort thanks to their soft texture, while gobelin and jacquard are known for their durability and decorative patterns. Linen and bouclé have a natural, richly textured look, ideal for a rustic or modern interior

How are upholstery fabrics made?

Upholstery fabrics are made by weaving, knitting or felting fibres. After these basic processes they can be printed or treated to improve specific properties. The fabrics are then cut and assembled to cover furniture.

How can I buy upholstery fabrics?

You can buy upholstery fabrics by ordering from Bladi, where you can order by the metre or by the roll. The price is stated per metre. For projects you can get in touch to possibly receive an extra discount.

What is the difference between decorative nails, upholstery nails and decorative nail strips?

Decorative nails are mainly ornamental; upholstery nails are designed for construction or repair and can also be decorative. A decorative nail strip is a row of nails on a strip, so you can fit them all at once with equal spacing. This helps you choose the right product for your project.

Which colours and finishes do the decorative nails come in?

You can choose from bronze, black, gold, antique gold, mottled antique gold, copper, matt silver and glossy silver, always per 100 pieces in a blister pack. This way there is a finish to match your fabric and the character of your furniture. Each blister contains one colour.

How many decorative nails do I need for my sofa or chair?

Measure the length of the edge along which you will place the nails and divide it by the desired distance between the nails, and you have the number. One blister contains 100 pieces. Feel free to send your dimensions via WhatsApp and we'll help you calculate. It's better to order a few extra, so you also have a spare if a nail bends.

When do I choose a decorative nail strip instead of individual nails?

Choose a decorative nail strip for a long, straight row at a fixed distance: it is faster and gives a neater result. The strip is 1 metre long and 9.5 mm wide. For individual accents or your own pattern, individual decorative nails are more convenient. This also lets you finish larger projects quickly and evenly.

How do I fit decorative nails to my furniture?

You hammer decorative nails into the wooden frame under the fabric with a small hammer, at a regular distance. Mark the line beforehand with a pencil and ruler. Work carefully with faux leather and velvet so that the fabric isn't damaged. If in doubt, try a scrap piece of fabric first. With faux leather, drive the nail in straight so the fabric doesn't tear.

Can I combine decorative nails with faux leather, velvet or chenille?

Yes, decorative nails go well with faux leather, velvet and chenille from our range. Visit our showroom in Antwerp to hold the colour and finish against your fabric, or ask for advice via WhatsApp. That way you see right away whether the combination works and which colour looks best.

Which fabric do I choose for a sedari or Moroccan sofa?

For a classic, rich look you usually choose velours or velvet; for a hard-wearing seat, chenille or a coarsely woven fabric. Take daily use and children or pets into account. You will find the details for each fabric on the product page. A sample helps you judge colour and texture in your own living room.

Which sedari fabric is water-repellent or pet-friendly?

GABO is water-repellent and made from recycled yarn; MIXY is offered as pet-friendly. Both are coarsely woven and suit a modern, calm living room. See the product page for the details of each fabric.

How many metres of fabric do I need for a complete sedari?

Measure each part of the sofa separately, so the mattresses, back cushions and side cushions, and add a margin per cushion for seams and turn-ups. With a pattern or stripe, allow extra metres so the pattern matches from cushion to cushion. The fabrics are about 140 to 145 cm wide and you order by the metre.

Why is it better to order all the sedari fabric at once?

Because upholstery fabric is dyed per batch, so a reorder can give a slight colour difference. So order all the metres at the same time, including a small reserve for repairs, especially for a complete living room. That way you get an even colour throughout your whole living room.

How do I care for the fabric of my sedari?

Vacuum the fabric regularly and blot stains immediately with a slightly damp cloth. The exact care depends on the type of fabric, so check the product page and always test a cleaner first on an inconspicuous spot. If in doubt, send a photo via WhatsApp. For every fabric, also read the advice on the product page.

Can I look at a sedari fabric as a sample first?

Yes. Private customers receive free samples and only pay the postage (shipping costs). Request a sample via the button Get a sample on the product page, or visit our showroom in Antwerp to feel the fabric. That way you can judge colour and texture before ordering by the metre.

What do I use zips for upholstery for?

You use them for removable covers and cushion covers. This gives you easy access to the filling and a neat finish. They also suit upholstery fabrics and curtains. A nylon zip is flexible and suitable for fabric. This makes it easy to create covers that you can wash or replace.

How do I order a zip by the metre and which length do I choose?

You order the zip by the metre, including 1 slider. Measure the opening of your cover or cushion and order at least that length. A slightly longer zip is easier to work with than one that is too short. For a sofa cover or a long opening, choose a longer zip than for a cushion.

What is the difference between the 10-metre and 200-metre roll?

The 10-metre roll is a 4 mm nylon zip with 20 sliders included, handy for several zips. The 200-metre roll is intended for larger quantities. Check the product page for exactly what is supplied. A single slider is ordered separately.

Can I cut the zip to size and how do I put the slider on?

Yes, you cut a nylon zip from the roll to the length you want. You thread the two sides into the slider and add a stop or a few stitches at the bottom so the slider doesn't come off. Not sure how? Feel free to ask for instructions. It's better to cut the zip too long than too short, because you can always shorten it.

When do I need zip sliders or a separate slider?

You need a separate slider for a zip from the roll or to replace a broken slider. We have zip sliders per 500 pieces and a Prym slider ring. Check the product page for how to use them or ask for advice. That way you don't have to replace the whole zip when a slider breaks.

What material are the zips made of and can I get advice?

Our zips are made of nylon and are intended for upholstery, such as covers, cushions and curtains. Check the product for the available colour and size. Looking for a different colour or not sure which zip fits? Send us a photo or the dimensions via WhatsApp, or visit our showroom in Antwerp.

What is a threaded insert nut and what do I use it for?

A threaded insert nut (rampa nut) is a nut with a wood thread on the outside and a metric thread on the inside. This lets you create a threaded connection in wood for a bolt or threaded rod, for example in furniture construction or for swivel castors with a threaded stem. The connection can be assembled and disassembled repeatedly.

Which size threaded insert nut do I need: M8 or M10?

Choose the size that matches your bolt or threaded stud: M8 for an 8 mm thread, M10 for a 10 mm thread. Our threaded insert nuts are 25 mm long. The M8 has a 14 mm flange, the M10 a 16 mm flange. That way you can be sure the bolt or threaded stud fits.

How do I fit a threaded insert nut in wood or chipboard?

First drill a hole with the correct pilot size and screw the nut in with an Allen key. For M8 drill approx. 10.7 to 11 mm and use Allen key 8; for M10 approx. 12 to 12.5 mm and Allen key 10. These are the dimensions for the brass versions. The nut cuts its own thread in softwood and chipboard.

In which materials can I use a threaded insert nut?

Threaded insert nuts are suitable for softwoods and chipboard; the M10 in galvanised steel also mentions MDF and plywood. The self-tapping outer thread bites into the wood. Which wall plug do I use for concrete, brick or plasterboard?

The nylon universal plug is suitable for concrete, brick, plasterboard, hollow blocks and other building materials. That gives you a suitable plug for most walls. Not sure about your wall? Send a photo via WhatsApp.

What is the difference between a universal plug and a nail plug?

A universal plug is fixed with a screw, a nail plug with a nail that you hammer in. The RAWL nail plug has a trumpet-shaped collar that holds it firmly in place. According to the product description, both are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The universal plug is made of nylon (PROFTEC), the nail plug is from RAWL.

Is a plug the same as a wall fixing plug?

Yes. Plugs and wall fixing plugs are the same thing: a plug that gives a screw or nail something to grip in the wall. You will find both names in this category. So if you are looking for a wall fixing plug, you are in the right place.

How do I put a plug in the wall, step by step?

Drill a hole that matches the plug, push the plug in, then screw or hammer in the screw or nail. This expands the plug and gives it grip in the wall. Also follow the manufacturer's instructions so that the plug carries the intended weight. Use a drill bit that matches the plug; the right drill size is on the packaging or the product page. A hole that is too big gives too little grip.

How much weight can a plug hold in the wall?

That differs per plug and wall and cannot be given as a single number. It depends on the type of plug, the wall, the screw and the installation. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and, for heavy objects, ask for advice via WhatsApp or in our showroom. A strong plug alone is not enough: the screw must also suit the weight.

Which screw do I need for my plug?

The screw must match the plug, so check the packaging or the product page for the right size. You can find screws in our Screws category and matching bits in Bits and bit holders. Not sure? Send a photo via WhatsApp.

What do I use an anti-slip mat for under cushions and rugs?

An anti-slip mat stops seat cushions, sofas and rugs from shifting or sliding. Our mat is 60 cm wide and strong enough to be used as an underlay in seat cushions. It doesn't stick, doesn't leave marks and is resistant to UV and ageing. It is easy to cut to size and washable up to 30 °C.

How many metres of anti-slip mat do I need for my cushion or rug?

Measure the length and width of what you want to secure and order as many metres as you need. The mat is 60 cm wide and sold by the running metre, so for a rug 2 metres long you need at least 2 metres. Not sure? Send the dimensions via WhatsApp. A full roll contains 30 metres, but you simply buy the number of metres you need.

What can I use silicone spray for?

You use silicone spray to lubricate and protect, for example hinges, rails, rubber seals and other moving parts. It can be used on metal, plastic, rubber and wood. On sensitive surfaces, test it first on a small area. It is also used as a release agent for cutting machines and moulds.

What is the difference between the two silicone sprays?

Which tools can I find under other sewing supplies?

You'll find handy sewing and needlework tools: tailor's chalk, chalk pencils, marking pens, seam rippers, a thread puller, tape measures, hem gauges, a thread fairy and a wool comb. You can see what each pack contains on the product page.

What do I use a seam ripper for and which size do I choose?

You use a seam ripper to take out stitches and seams without damaging the fabric. Prym has a large, a small and an ergonomic seam ripper. The small one gives more control on fine seams and tightly woven fabric. To undo an incorrect stitch you can also use the Prym thread puller.

What is the difference between tailor's chalk and a marking pen?

Tailor's chalk is a dry chalk that you use to mark cut-outs and markings on textile and that you can remove again. A marking pen is handy for seam lines and patterns. You remove the lines of the Prym Aqua marking pen with water. Always test on a scrap of fabric first. Tailor's chalk comes in sets of 10, in white or in four colours.

Is outdoor upholstery fabric resistant to sun and rain?

Yes, outdoor fabric is made for use outside. SUNLIGHT is 100% olefin, water-repellent and UV-resistant, and AMALFI faux leather is resistant to moisture and UV light. Still, let cushions dry standing upright after a rain shower, so no moisture stays in the filling. If your furniture sits in full sun, choose a fabric with UV protection.

What is better for outdoors: outdoor faux leather or woven fabric?

Choose faux leather for ease and woven fabric for seating comfort. Faux leather (Skai Primera, Montana, RIF, AMALFI) wipes clean with a damp cloth, handy for boat cushions and hospitality. Woven outdoor fabric such as SUNLIGHT breathes better and feels more like textile. In terms of material, PVC (AMALFI) is stiffer and sturdier, PU (RIF) more supple and softer.

How much outdoor fabric do I need for lounge cushions?

Measure each cushion (length, width and thickness) and add seam allowance. The width of the roll is on the product page; for Skai Primera and RIF, among others, it is 140 cm. Send your measurements via WhatsApp and we'll calculate the metres needed with you. Keep in mind that the roll width determines how many pieces you can lay side by side.

Is outdoor fabric suitable for a boat, camper or hospitality terrace?

Yes. SUNLIGHT was developed for boat cushions, caravans and hospitality terraces, among other things, with a Martindale of 40,000 to 50,000 rubs. AMALFI is heavy-duty faux leather for maritime applications, among others. Ask us for advice if you have specific fire safety requirements. For hospitality, preferably choose a fabric with high abrasion resistance.

How do I clean and maintain outdoor upholstery fabric?

Wipe the fabric with a damp cloth and mild soap. SUNLIGHT has an Easy Clean treatment, so most stains come off easily. Don't use aggressive cleaners or solvents, and let the fabric dry thoroughly before you store cushions. For faux leather, a soft cloth is often enough; don't rub too hard.

Can I order a sample of outdoor fabric first?

Yes. Private customers receive free samples and only pay the postage (shipping costs). Open the product page of the fabric and click 'Ontvang een sample' (get a sample), so you can judge colour and texture at home next to your furniture. That way you see right away whether the colour suits your garden or terrace furniture.

Which staples do I need for my staple gun: type 71, 80 or 90?

The staple must match the type of your staple gun, so check the machine or the packaging. We have type 71, 80 and 90 staples and pneumatic machines for each of those types. If nothing is printed on your machine, send a photo via WhatsApp. That way you avoid buying staples that don't fit your machine.

What is the difference between type 71 and type 80 staples?

Type 71 has a narrow crown of 9.1 mm and fine round wire; type 80 has flat wire with a wider crown of 12.8 mm. This makes type 71 less noticeable in thick fabrics. For leather or faux leather we recommend type 80, because it is less likely to tear out.

Which staple length do I choose for upholstery?

That depends on the thickness of your fabric and upholstery: the staple must go through the layers and hold firmly in the wood or frame. We have type 80 in 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 mm, and the Prebena VZ06CNK in 6 or 8 mm. If in doubt, ask us via WhatsApp. A staple that is too long comes out the other side, and one that is too short won't hold.

How many staples are there in a box or pack?

That depends on the type: we have type 80 in 5,000 and 10,000 pieces, type 71 in 10,000 pieces. Type 90 is packed in 5000 or 2520 pieces, depending on the length. The quantity is always listed on the product page.

What is the difference between a manual staple gun and a pneumatic stapler?

A manual staple gun works by hand force; a pneumatic stapler runs on compressed air. Pneumatic is faster and takes less force when you have a lot of stapling to do. We have the HPVZ08 manual staple gun and pneumatic machines for types 71, 80 and 90. For a pneumatic machine you need a compressor with compressed air.

Do your staples fit a tacker from another brand?

Often yes, if the type is the same. Type 80 is suitable for Senco, Bostitch, Haubold, Max and Kitpro, among others, and type 71 corresponds to Prebena V, Bea 71 and Senco 3G, among others. The full list is on the product page. Always check that the staple fits your exact tacker model.

Which sewing machine needle do I choose for which fabric?

Choose the needle based on your fabric: Universal for most woven fabrics, Jersey or Stretch for stretchy fabrics, Jeans or Gold Jeans for denim and thick fabrics, and Leather for leather. You use Microtex for fine, delicate fabrics. Choose the exact size based on the thickness of your fabric.

What do numbers like 80/12 or 100/16 on a needle mean?

The first number is the needle size (80 means 0.80 mm), the second number is the American number (12). A higher number is a thicker needle for heavy fabric, a lower number a finer needle for thin fabric. This way you quickly find the right size in the range of Schmetz needles.

When should I replace my machine needle?

Replace your needle with every new project and as soon as you notice skipped stitches, snagging thread or small holes in the fabric. A blunt or bent needle damages your fabric and can strain your machine. That keeps your stitching neat and your machine in good condition.

Which needle do I use for faux leather or sturdy fabrics?

For faux leather and leather, use a Leather needle with a sharp point, and for sturdy fabrics a Jeans or Topstitch needle in a higher size, such as 90 to 110 or 100/16. If your fabric is very thick, send us a photo of your project. If in doubt, choose a slightly thicker needle rather than one that is too thin.

What is the difference between a Universal and a Jeans needle?

A Universal needle is meant for general sewing on cotton, polyester and other woven fabrics. A Jeans needle has a sharp point and sturdy construction for denim and heavy fabrics; Gold Jeans also has a gold coating. Which one you choose depends on the fabric you're working with.

Which needle do I use for stretch fabric and jersey?

Use a Jersey, Stretch or Black Super Stretch needle. These have a rounded point, so the needle slides between the threads instead of piercing through them, which prevents skipped stitches. Choose the size based on your fabric, for example 70 to 90 for the Jersey set in our range.

  3. Wooden frame: The wooden base of the sedari can vary in design and finish. You can choose simple woodwork or detailed wood carving.
  4. Filling and comfort: The firmness of the cushions can also be adjusted as you wish, depending on how soft or firm you want the seats to be.
  5. Decoration: Traditional embroidery, ornaments and fringes can be added or left out, depending on the style you want (modern or traditional).

Our DIN 7504 K (6.3 x 25 mm, hex head, electro-galvanised) is meant for sheet thicknesses of 2 to 6 mm. You drive it in with a size 10 hex socket. It is mainly used in the metalworking industry.

Which screw length do I need for my project?

Choose a screw that goes well through the top material and bites into the bottom material with most of its length. The dimensions are listed for each screw on the product page. Not sure? Send us the thickness of your materials via WhatsApp and we'll help you work it out.

What are collated screws and which machine are they meant for?

Collated screws (strip screws) are joined together in a plastic strip and are used with a collated screw gun or auto-feed screwdriver. This lets you fasten plasterboard faster and with fewer jams than with loose screws. They fit all common brands of collated screw guns. The strip is made of high-quality plastic for trouble-free feeding.

What is the difference between fine and coarse collated screws?

Fine thread (3.5 mm) is meant for plasterboard on metal stud profiles, coarse thread (3.9 mm) for plasterboard on wooden battens. The fine screw pierces metal up to 0.8 mm thick, the coarse one has plenty of grip in wood. So choose based on your substructure. Both are phosphate-coated and have a PH-2 drive.

Which lengths are available and how many screws are in a pack?

The fine screws (3.5 mm) come in 25, 35 and 55 mm, the coarse ones (3.9 mm) in 25, 45 and 55 mm. Each pack contains 1000 pieces. Choose the length based on the thickness of the plasterboard plus the substructure the screw has to bite into.

Can I use collated screws outdoors?

No, these screws are meant for indoor use. They are phosphate-coated and have passed a 96-hour salt spray test, which makes them corrosion-resistant. For outdoor applications, choose a screw designed for that. For indoor work, such as plasterboard on an interior wall or partition wall, they are exactly what you need.

Which bit do I need for collated screws?

All collated screws have a PH-2 drive, so your machine needs to use a PH-2 bit. Check this on your collated screw gun before you order. Not sure? Send a photo or the machine type via WhatsApp.

Can I finish over the screws with plaster or wall paint?

Yes. According to the product description, the phosphate-coated screws can be finished perfectly well with a wall finish such as plaster or latex wall paint. They are also corrosion-resistant, so no rust bleeds through your finish. You can paint over them without worry.

What is the difference between fabric scissors and regular scissors?

Fabric scissors have an extra sharp cutting edge, so they cut cleanly through textile. Regular scissors are less sharp and can make the fabric fray or snag. That's why you should only use your fabric scissors for fabric. This keeps the end result neat.

Which scissors should I choose for thick fabrics such as upholstery fabric or denim?

Choose a large pair of scissors of about 24 cm, such as the Mundial Reinforced Sewing Scissors (24.1 cm) or the Mundial 10-inch fabric scissors. As a general rule: the bigger the scissors, the heavier the fabric you can cut. If you have small hands, a 20 to 22 cm model is often more comfortable.

Do you have scissors for left-handed people?

Yes, we have the 21.6 cm Mundial scissors in a left-handed version. That matters, because with the wrong hand the blades get pushed apart and you cut fabric poorly. Left-handed scissors cut more comfortably and more accurately. When ordering, look for the word left-handed in the product name.

Which small scissors should I use for fine work?

For fine work, such as snipping threads or embroidery, use small scissors such as the 12.7 cm single-ring scissors or the 14.5 cm Mundial fabric scissors. For cutting lengths of fabric, choose larger fabric scissors. Small scissors also come in handy in hard-to-reach spots.

How do I take care of my scissors and what shouldn't I use them for?

Only use your fabric scissors for textile, not for paper or other materials. This keeps the blades sharp and sliding smoothly past each other. Also don't use too much force, and never cut without fabric between the blades, as the scissors can end up cutting into themselves.

What is the advantage of titanium or ergonomic scissors?

Titanium scissors have blades with a titanium coating that protects them, such as the corrosion-resistant Mundial Titanium Scissors of 21.5 cm. An ergonomic soft-touch handle, like on the Cushion Pro (20 cm), is more comfortable during long cutting sessions. Not sure? Ask for advice via WhatsApp.

Which stains does the TMC 520 stain remover remove?

On sensitive surfaces, test it first on an inconspicuous spot. On textiles, don't rub hard but dab, and work from the outside in.

What do I use silicone spray for in the upholstery workshop?

You use silicone spray as a lubricant for moving parts and as a release agent on cutting and foam machines and moulds. It is transparent, antistatic and heat-resistant up to 50 °C. A can contains 400 ml. Spray briefly and in a targeted way, so you don't use more product than necessary.

How do I use anti-fray spray on fabric or carpet?

Mark the cutting line on the back of the material and spray a strip about 4 cm wide from a distance of approx. 10 cm, generously enough to saturate the fibres. Let everything dry completely before you cut; this takes 2 to 5 minutes at 20 °C. This is handy when cutting upholstery fabric or floor covering to size, so the edge stays neat.

How do I clean upholstery fabric if I don't know the type of fabric?

Test every product first on an inconspicuous spot and dab stains gently instead of rubbing. The right care depends on the type of fabric; our blogs give dos and don'ts for faux leather, mottled fabric and chenille. Otherwise send a photo via WhatsApp. If you have doubts about the fabric type, let us know before you use a product.

Are these products also suitable for hobbyists and home use?

Yes, the products are intended for professional upholsterers as well as hobbyists who work with upholstery fabrics, sewing or textiles. Always read the instructions on the product page and test first on an inconspicuous spot. A photo of your project helps us advise the right product.

Which needle do I use for jersey, jeans, leather or fine fabric?

Choose the needle based on your fabric: Jersey for knits and other stretch fabrics, Jeans for denim, Leather for leather and Microtex for fine, tightly woven fabrics. Universal suits ordinary woven and knitted fabrics. The wrong needle can damage the fabric or break. For stretch fabrics choose a Jersey, Stretch or Super Stretch needle with a rounded point, which doesn't damage the fabric and helps prevent skipped stitches.

What do the numbers on the packaging mean, such as 70-10 or 90-14?

The first number is the needle thickness in hundredths of a millimetre, the second number is the American size. A lower number is a thinner needle for fine fabrics, a higher number a thicker needle for heavy fabrics such as denim or leather.

In most household sewing machines they do, because Schmetz machine needles have a flat back. For an overlocker you need a separate overlock needle, which we also have. Not sure about your model? Check the manual or ask us for advice.

Which needles do I use for upholstering and tufting?

Use hand needles: mattress needles or curved upholstery needles. Our mattress needles are straight and come in lengths from 100 to 350 mm, available per piece. The Prym upholstery needles are curved and supplied as a set of 3 (no. 2, 4 and 5), handy in hard-to-reach places.

You can also drop by our showroom in Antwerp. On the product page you can see which sizes and how many needles are in a set.

Which sewing thread do I choose for clothing and cushions, by hand or machine?

An all-purpose sewing thread, such as Gütermann all-purpose thread of 200 or 500 m, is suitable for most fabrics and works both on the sewing machine and for hand sewing. For the overlocker you need overlock thread, for heavy fabrics an extra strong thread. Not sure? Ask for advice.

Which thread do I use for upholstery fabric, jeans or leather?

Use an extra strong thread, such as Gütermann Extra Strong (100 m), or a thread made specifically for jeans and leather. Heavy material demands a lot of the thread. A thread that is too weak snaps quickly or shows in the seam. Feel free to ask us about the options for leather.

What is the difference between all-purpose thread, overlock thread and Miniking?

You use all-purpose thread for most sewing work, overlock thread (thickness 120, 2750 m) is meant for the overlocker. Gütermann Miniking is a large 1000 m spool for those who sew many metres. Check the product page for the exact use. That way you choose the thread that suits your machine and project.

How much thread do I need for my project?

For a cushion cover a spool of 100 or 200 m is usually enough; for a sofa or several projects you choose 500 or 1000 m. It depends on the number of seams and the thickness of the fabric. If you want to be sure, send us a photo via WhatsApp. One spool too many is better than one too few, especially with colour differences between batches.

Which colour of thread do I choose for my fabric?

Choose the shade closest to your fabric, and when in doubt go slightly darker rather than lighter. We have all-purpose thread of 200 m in beige/white/black, red, yellow, brown, green, blue, pink/purple and grey, among others. Missing a colour? Then contact us.

Is a sewing thread set useful and what does it contain?

Yes, a set is handy if you need several colours. We have a set of 7 x 100 m, among others, and sets with extras such as a seam ripper and ruler, or a Zoomlat and Seam-Fix. You can see the contents on the product page. Can't decide? Ask for advice in our showroom in Antwerp.

What is the difference between a furniture cap and a tube plug?

You put a furniture cap around the leg, and a tube plug into the hollow leg. Both are made of plastic and usually come in packs of 4. Choose based on the type of leg you have. A cap also protects your floor from scratches.

How do I measure my furniture leg for the right cap?

Measure the outer diameter of the leg for a cap that fits around it, and the inner diameter for a tube plug that fits inside. The size in mm is in the product name. Not sure? Send us a photo via WhatsApp. Preferably measure in two places, because a leg is not always perfectly round.

What sizes of furniture caps do you have for round legs?

We have furniture caps for round legs in 12, 16, 22, 25, 28 and 32 mm. Tube plugs for inside a round leg come in 22, 25 and 32 mm. There is also a crystal-clear coaster of ø40 mm, per 2 pieces. Choose the size in mm that fits the outside (cap) or inside (tube plug) of your leg.

Do I choose a furniture cap or felt under my chair or table?

A plastic cap is sturdy, lasts a long time and finishes the leg neatly. Felt is softer on the floor and lets furniture slide more easily. Both protect against scratches, so the choice depends on your leg and floor. If you want felt, take a look at our felt glides and anti-scratch felt.

What if I can't find the right furniture cap, and can I get advice?

Contact us or send a photo via WhatsApp, and we'll help you find a suitable solution. Where possible we add the cap to our range. You can order online or drop by our showroom in Antwerp. Feel free to include the size in mm, so we can help you faster.

Is there a heat-resistant spray adhesive and what do I choose it for?

Yes. We have a heat-resistant spray adhesive of 500 ml, also from Palty, as a contact adhesive for high temperatures. The product page states a temperature resistance of up to about 110 °C. Check that the glue suits your material, or ask us for advice. There is also a Heavy Duty spray adhesive of 500 ml, with a temperature resistance of up to 55 °C.

Which glue do I use for fabric and when do I choose spray or tube?

For fabric you use textile glue. A spray can is handy for larger pieces of fabric, because the glue is spread evenly. For a small piece or precision work, a tube is often better. Among others we have Gütermann Textile Glue HT2 of 30 g.

What do I need to use a glue tank?

You need a spray gun and a hose. We have a Premium spray gun for glue tanks, a metal eco spray gun and a black 5.5 m hose for contact adhesive pressure vessels. Check on the product page that the parts fit together. A glue tank with gun is especially handy if you do a lot of gluing.

Iron-on interfacing is attached to the fabric with an iron, sew-in interfacing is sewn on. We have curtain tape in both versions, 7.7 cm wide. Read the product's instructions for use. Iron-on is the quickest, sew-in is the sturdiest for heavy fabric.

Which interfacing should I choose to stiffen fabric?

Choose the interlining based on the fabric and the effect you want, for example H180, H200 (both 90 cm wide) or G785. Each type has its own function, so check the product page. Not sure? Ask for advice via WhatsApp or in our showroom. Always test the interlining on a scrap of your fabric first.

This keeps your embroidery or appliqué nicely in shape while you work.

How do I hem quickly without sewing using Vliesofix or hemming tape?

With the 2 cm Vlieseline fusible hemming tape you fix a hem in place with the iron. You use Vliesofix to bond pieces of fabric together, for example in appliqués. Follow the instructions on the packaging for the right temperature. Test on a scrap of fabric first.

What do I use curtain tape for and how wide is it?

You use curtain tape at the top of a curtain to stiffen it and hang it. We have 7.7 cm curtain tape by the metre, iron-on or sew-in. Combine it with our curtain hooks for a neatly hanging curtain. This gives you a crisp top edge for the hooks to hold on to.

How do I attach sew-free snap fasteners to my fabric?

You place the parts on both sides of the fabric and press them together with pliers, for example the Prym Vario Pliers. You don't need needle and thread. Always follow the instructions on the packaging and first check on a scrap of fabric that the snap fastener holds well. That way the result stays neat and sturdy.

Do I need pliers for snap fasteners and which ones?

Usually yes, for a sturdy and neat fixing. The Prym Vario Pliers are made for this with Prym snap fasteners. Check the product page to see which snap fasteners fit the pliers. Without pliers it is difficult to attach sew-free snap fasteners firmly.

What do I use furniture connectors for on a sofa or bed?

With furniture connectors you couple two furniture elements together, such as the sections of a corner sofa or lounge set, so they don't shift apart. You attach the parts to the furniture and slide them together. The metal coupling set is also suitable for joining a headboard or footboard to a bed.

How does the steel element connector 5000 work?

The element connector 5000 consists of two separate parts that you attach underneath the furniture. You couple the pieces by sliding them against each other and uncouple them by lifting the piece with the short part out of the other. If you leave the pieces standing separately, you swivel the long element away underneath the furniture.

Can I detach furniture connectors again, for example when moving?

Yes, in many cases you can simply slide the metal parts apart again, which is handy for moving house or cleaning. This applies to the metal coupling set, for example. The galvanised flat-head furniture connector also gives a detachable connection between two wooden parts at right angles to each other. Which model suits best depends on your furniture.

What are the dimensions of the metal element connectors?

The metal element connectors per piece are 9.5 cm wide and 4.5 cm high, with screw holes 7.5 cm apart centre to centre. The metal coupling set is 12.8 cm high and 3.9 cm wide. For the other models the dimensions are on the product page. Please note: we sell the metal element connectors per piece and not per set, so order two per connection.

Band elastic is available by the metre in widths of 10, 15, 25, 40 and 50 mm. You use it for waistbands, hems, covers and fitted sheets. Which width of elastic should I choose for a waistband or hem?

Choose a wide band for a wide waistband or hem, and a narrow band for a narrow casing. Measure the casing and choose a width that just fits inside. Prym waist elastic (38 mm) is made for waistbands. Not sure about the width? Ask for advice.

Should I stitch elastic on or thread it through a casing?

Both work, depending on the effect you want. You can stitch the elastic directly onto the fabric or thread it through a casing in the fabric. Choose firm elastic when there will be a lot of tension, and stitch it down at both ends so it doesn't twist or roll. That way the elastic keeps its shape nicely.

How much elastic do I need for a waistband?

Cut the elastic slightly shorter than the circumference it goes around so it fits snugly. Add the overlap for the seam as well. First wrap the elastic around your waist to decide how tight you want it. You order by the metre, so you choose exactly the length you need. With wide elastic, allow a little more length for the seam.

What colours of elastic are available?

You order elastic by the metre online, so you choose exactly the length you need. Not sure about width or colour? Send us a photo or the dimensions via WhatsApp, or drop by our showroom in Antwerp. Then we'll choose the right band together.

Is chenille suitable for a sofa that is used every day?

Yes, chenille is sturdy enough for daily use on a sofa or armchair, especially in the dense qualities. Wear resistance differs per fabric, so check the Martindale value on the product page and choose a heavier fabric for intensive use. A dense weave keeps seats and armrests looking good for longer.

What is the difference between chenille and bouclé chenille?

Regular chenille has a soft, even, velvety surface, while bouclé chenille adds a structure of small loops on top. Bouclé therefore looks more playful and has more relief, whereas plain or ribbed chenille stays calmer. You will find both in this collection. Want to compare them side by side? Request a sample or visit the showroom.

How much chenille do I need for a sofa or armchair?

Measure each part separately, such as seat, back, armrests and sides, and add a margin for seams and hems. If the fabric has a pattern, allow extra metres. Is chenille suitable for children and pets?

Yes, if you choose a dense, sturdy quality such as MIXY, which is offered as pet-friendly. With open or looped structures, claws can snag more easily. Not sure? Check the product page or ask for advice via WhatsApp. A sample helps you judge the structure of the fabric beforehand.

How do I clean chenille upholstery fabric safely?

Vacuum chenille regularly with a soft brush and blot stains straight away with a slightly damp cloth, without rubbing hard. Do not scrub and do not use harsh products, as this damages the surface. More tips are in our blog about chenille care. Always test a stain remover on an inconspicuous spot of the fabric first.

How does the colour on my screen differ from the real fabric?

With a reorder, a slight colour difference between batches can also occur.

Can I return my order?

Yes. You have 14 days after receipt to request a return. The item must be in the same condition as you received it: unused, with labels and in the original packaging, and you need proof of purchase.

Start a return by contacting us at info@bladi.shop. After approval we will send you a return label with instructions. Parcels sent back without a requested return cannot be accepted.

Can I return fabric that has been cut by the metre?

For goods sold by the metre, such as upholstery fabrics and filling fibre, and for samples, exceptions to the return policy apply. Items in the sale and gift cards cannot be returned.

Not sure whether your fabric can be sent back? Please contact us before you order, so you know exactly where you stand.

My order is damaged or not the right one. What now?

Please check your order when you receive it. If an item is defective or damaged, or you received the wrong item, contact us straight away at info@bladi.shop.

We will assess the problem and sort it out for you.

How do I request samples and what do they cost?

You request a sample with the ‘Get a sample’ button on the product page. For samples you only pay the shipping costs: € 2.95 to Belgium and € 3.49 to the other countries. For that amount you receive up to 4 fabric samples.

They are small cut samples of about 3 by 2 cm. If you need larger samples, please contact us.

Why is a sample important before I order?

Colour and texture never look exactly the same on a screen as in real life. With a sample you can judge colour, texture and thickness beforehand, before you order by the metre.

You can also visit our showroom in Antwerp to feel the fabrics yourself.

Is gobelin fabric strong enough for a sofa that is used daily?

Yes, for normal home use. Our gobelins have an abrasion resistance of 18,000 Martindale cycles and a sturdy jacquard weave. Will it be used very intensively, such as in hospitality? Then feel free to ask for advice before you order. The fabric also has a pilling resistance of level A and UV protection of factor 40+.

How much gobelin do I need if the pattern has to match?

More than with a plain fabric. The motif repeats, so allow extra metres if you want the pattern to line up or run continuously. Send us your dimensions or a photo of your furniture via WhatsApp and we'll calculate the metres with you. A large motif shows to better effect on a sofa or backrest than on a narrow chair seat.

What is gobelin fabric made of and how wide is it?

Our gobelins consist of 45% polyester and 55% cotton and are 140 cm wide. The fabric weighs 330 g/m² and is made in the EU. Polyester provides sturdiness and cotton comfort. The pattern is in the weave itself, so it doesn't wear off like a print would.

Can I wash gobelin upholstery fabric or clean it another way?

Yes, the fabric is washable at a maximum of 30 °C. Do not bleach and do not tumble dry. For upholstered furniture, vacuum regularly and dab stains immediately with a clean cloth, without rubbing. Always test a cleaning product first on an invisible spot on the fabric.

Can I also use gobelin for curtains or wall panels?

Yes. Gobelin is suitable for furniture upholstery, wall panels, decorative cushions and curtains. The fabric has UV protection of factor 40+ and high colourfastness under artificial light, which is handy for window decoration. It is therefore a versatile fabric for chairs and sofas as well as for decoration.

Can I order a sample of gobelin fabric first?

Yes. Private customers receive free samples and only pay the postage (shipping costs). Open the product page of the fabric and click 'Get a sample'; this way you judge colour and texture at home next to your furniture. You'll see the design and colours in real life before you order metres.

How do I fit furniture legs under my furniture?

Which furniture leg is strong enough for a heavy sofa or bed?

For heavy furniture, choose a metal furniture leg and spread the weight over enough legs, including in the middle of a long sofa or bed. The maximum load capacity differs per model; if it isn't listed with the product, ask us. An extra leg in the middle gives more stability on long furniture.

How do I prevent furniture legs from scratching my floor?

Choose legs with a plastic foot or stick a protective felt pad under metal legs. Plastic legs are gentler on your floor than bare metal, which can scratch a hard floor. Check the product page to see which foot the leg has. That way your parquet or laminate stays beautiful.

Can I replace furniture legs on existing furniture?

Yes, you can replace furniture legs to refresh or raise a sofa, cabinet, coffee table or bed. Measure the height and the fixing of the old leg and compare it with the new one. If in doubt, send a photo via WhatsApp. That way you give your furniture a new look without replacing it.

What is the difference between a retractable knife and a snap-off knife?

With a retractable knife you slide the blade out and back in; with a snap-off knife you break off a dull piece of the blade for a new sharp tip. We have a soft-grip version of both, handy for floor covering and upholstery work. The advantage of the snap-off knife is that you always have a sharp point without replacing the whole knife.

Which refill fits my knife: 18 mm or 19 mm?

Choose the refill with the same width as the blade in your knife. We have 18 mm refills for snap-off knives (10 blades per pack) and 19 mm refills for retractable knives. Measure your current blade before you order. The retractable knife is refillable, so you can use it again and again.

What is an angled refill and when do I use it?

An angled refill has an angled shape, which lets you cut precisely into corners and awkward spots. We have a 19 mm angled retractable knife refill. For regular cutting, use the straight 19 mm refill. Handy for edges and corners, for example.

Which materials can I use these knives for?

You use them to cut floor covering and carpet and, according to the product description, also paper, cardboard and fabric. The snap-off knife is also handy for upholstery work. For a clean cut you always need a sharp blade. Choose a knife with soft grip if you cut for a longer time.

How do I work safely with a knife and when do I replace the blade?

Always slide the blade back into the knife after use and replace it as soon as it gets dull. A dull knife takes more force and slips more easily. With a snap-off knife, break off the dull piece and keep refills out of reach of children. A sharp knife also gives a neater cut.

Can I get advice on the right knife or refill?

Yes. Send a photo of your knife or its packaging via WhatsApp and we'll tell you which refill fits. You can also drop by our showroom in Antwerp to look at the knives. The product pages list the sizes of the refills.

What measuring and marking tools do I need at minimum?

At minimum a tape measure to measure and tailor's chalk or a chalk pencil to mark. A set square helps with right-angled lines, and a hem gauge keeps a hem the same width everywhere. With this basic kit you measure, mark and cut accurately. Want to know how much fabric you need? Then the tape measure is the most important.

How do I measure a sofa or armchair for the amount of fabric?

How long is the tape measure and which one should I choose?

The Prym tape measures (Junior and Color) are 150 cm long. The Color has a red-white-green scale, a yellow back with its own scale and metal ends. Both follow straight and curved surfaces. The Junior is a simple, flexible version for sewing, upholstery and hobby work.

Which tailor's chalk should I choose for dark or light fabric?

Choose chalk with contrast: white on dark fabric, a colour on light fabric. The set of 4 colours contains 5 white, 2 blue, 2 red and 1 yellow chalk. We also have white tailor's chalk (10 pieces) and Prym tailor's chalk. White chalk is the classic choice for most dark fabrics.

How do I mark fabric without visible chalk residue?

Mark on the wrong side of the fabric, so no chalk residue is visible on the right side. Tailor's chalk is also easy to remove from the fabric. Measure twice, cut once. A set square helps you check right angles before you cut.

For the Heavy Duty Adhesive tank, read the product page or ask us, so you know exactly what you need. That way you can start right away, even somewhere without compressed air.

Which parts do I need besides the glue tank?

What is the difference between the 19-litre tank and the Heavy Duty tank?

The 19-litre tank contains aromatic-free contact adhesive based on SBR rubber (red or transparent); the 21.8 kg Heavy Duty tank is intended for cold foam, polyether, carpet, vinyl and wall coverings, among other things, and is free of methylene chloride. Choose the size that suits the scale of your projects.

How much glue do I use per square metre?

For the Heavy Duty tank it is about 60 to 70 grams per m². The contact adhesive in the 19-litre tank covers up to 10 m² per litre when applied to one side. Actual consumption depends on the material. This way you can calculate in advance how much glue your project needs.

Which materials can I bond with the contact adhesive?

Among others: hard plastic laminate sheet (Formica, Duropal), veneer, wood, MDF, leather, rubber, foam, floor covering and EPDM rubber. For PVC (vinyl), check beforehand whether the plasticisers tolerate the adhesive. If in doubt, test on an offcut first. Work on a clean, dry surface for the best result.

How long does it take for the contact adhesive to dry?

About 2 minutes at 20 °C when applied to both sides. The open time is up to 1 hour, so you have plenty of time to position the parts. This applies to the contact adhesive in the 19-litre tank; for other adhesives, follow the product information. Press the parts together firmly, because contact adhesive bonds immediately.

Is a glue gun or a glue spray better for my upholstery project?

For precision work and small parts, choose a glue gun. For large surfaces such as foam or fabric, a glue spray or contact adhesive is more practical. In our adhesive collection you'll find sprays and glue tanks. Sometimes you use them together: gun for details, spray for the large surface.

Send a photo or your question via WhatsApp or contact us, and we'll help you choose. You can also drop by our showroom in Antwerp. On the product page you'll find extra details about the 40 watt glue gun.

Measure the length of all the seams you want to finish with piping and add a little extra for corners and overlap. You order the piping cord by the metre, so you buy exactly the length you need. Not sure? Ask for our advice. The cord is white, the fabric determines the colour of your piping.

How much basting cord is on a reel and how do I order it?

The basting cord is supplied on a 500 gram reel. You'll find more details about its use on the product page. If you're not sure whether that's enough for your project, contact us and we'll think it through with you. It is a separate product, so you choose it separately from the piping cord.

Can I get advice on piping and basting cord for my furniture?

Yes. Send a photo and your question via WhatsApp or contact us, and we'll help you choose. You can also drop by our showroom in Antwerp to see the materials and get advice.
