suedelook with ease upholstery fabric

Our suede upholstery fabric has the fine, matt nap and warm feel of real suede, but is made of 100% polyester. This makes the fabric hard-wearing (more than 30,000 Martindale) and easier to care for than real suede leather.

What is for suede upholstery fabric suitable?

suede looks best on armchairs, headboards, poufs, chair seats and decorative cushions. The soft grain creates a subtle color difference depending on the direction of the stroke; this gives the furniture a lively look, but it also means that you have to cut all parts in the same direction for an even result.

Maintenance of suede upholstery fabric

  • Vacuum regularly with a soft brush attachment, so that no dust remains in the nap.
  • Blot stains immediately with a dry, white cloth, dabbing rather than rubbing.
  • After cleaning, lightly brush the nap back in one direction so that the surface looks even again.
  • Always test a cleaning product first on an offcut or in an inconspicuous spot.

How to choose the right suede upholstery fabric

Suede upholstery fabric is textile with the look and soft touch of suede. DEN Suede is 100% polyester, approximately 140 cm wide (usable), and weighs around 370 g/m². The fabric achieves over 30,000 Martindale, has a very high tensile strength (up to 1509 N), and a pilling grade of 4. This makes it suitable for furniture used on a daily basis.

The soft grain creates a subtle color difference depending on the direction of the stroke. This gives the piece of furniture a lively appearance, but it means that all parts must be cut in the same direction. Therefore, order more than enough in one go and take the grain direction into account when calculating the meterage.

Suede, faux leather or velvet: which one suits your project?

  • Suede upholstery fabric: matte, warm, and soft with a leather-like look. Beautiful on sofas, armchairs, headboards, and cushions.
  • Faux leather: smoother and easy to wipe clean, convenient for frequent use or hospitality settings. See our faux leather.
  • Velvet: soft and shiny, with a luxurious appearance. See our velvet.
  • Genuine suede leather: natural material, more sensitive to moisture and stains than suede upholstery fabric.

Choose based on usage:

  • Sofa or sectional sofa: suitable; pay attention to the grain direction and calculate enough meters.
  • Dining chairs: average of 1.5 to 2 meters for a chair without armrests.
  • Cushions and headboards: a good choice for adding warm, chic accents.
  • Panels and decoration: the fabric is also suitable for wall panels.

Working with and maintaining suede upholstery fabric
