Reupholstering a chair seat: step-by-step guide

1. Unscrew the seat from the underside of the chair.
2. Remove the old fabric and staples with a staple remover or a flat-head screwdriver.
3. Check the foam. Has it crumbled or sagged? Replace it and fix the new foam in place with spray adhesive.
4. Cut the fabric to size: the size of the seat plus 5 to 8 cm turnover all round.
5. Staple the fabric: first one staple in the middle of each side, then work towards the corners. Fold the corners in neatly.
6. Screw the seat back onto the chair.
