Bouclé upholstery fabric by the metre

At BLADI you can buy bouclé fabric by the metre. Choose from patterned bouclé chenille (WAVE, URBAN, NECTAR and VERZACE), the super-soft Bouclé Teddy made of recycled polyester and the chenille Dubai collection. Suitable for sofas, armchairs, dining chairs and cushions.

What is bouclé?

Bouclé is made from yarn with small loops and curls. This gives the fabric a soft, nubbly surface with plenty of texture. Bouclé suits modern, Scandinavian and Japandi interiors and gives rounded, organic furniture a warm look.

Bouclé Chenille: the core bouclé in this collection, also available as a sample hanger.
Patterned bouclé chenille: WAVE, URBAN, NECTAR and VERZACE, for a sofa or armchair with its own character.
Bouclé Teddy: a super-soft velour bouclé made of recycled polyester, ideal for cushions and pouffes.
Chenille Dubai collection: variants A mix, B mix, C, D, E, F and G.

Tip: bouclé looks its best on furniture with rounded shapes and large surfaces, such as a loveseat, armchair or headboard. Choose a plain bouclé for a calm look and a pattern as an eye-catcher. Ideally check the colour in your own light.

How to choose the right bouclé upholstery fabric

First determine what you will use the fabric for. For a sofa that is used daily, choose a quality with high abrasion resistance; for an armchair, ottoman, or decorative cushions, you have more freedom regarding texture and softness. Also consider the pattern: with WAVE, URBAN, NECTAR, and VERZACE, the motif runs through the fabric, so factor in extra yardage if you want to align the pattern.

Bouclé features loops. If you have a cat or dog that scratches, please discuss this with us, as claws can get caught in the loops. A tightly woven chenille is often the safer choice in that case. All fabrics can be ordered by the meter and are generally 140 cm wide.

Comparing bouclé fabrics: which one suits your project?

Bouclé chenille (WAVE, URBAN, NECTAR, VERZACE): 100% polyester, 480 g/m², 140 cm wide, Martindale over 80,000. Each with its own graphic pattern.
Bouclé Teddy: super-soft fabric made of 100% recycled polyester, 420 g/m², Martindale over 60,000. Great for furniture and cushions.
Dubai collection (chenille): soft, woven fabric in sand tones, white, and taupe, 100% polyester, 600 g/m² and 100,000 Martindale.

Choose by usage:

Sofa and corner sofa: bouclé chenille or the Dubai collection due to their high abrasion resistance.
Armchair and ottoman: Bouclé Teddy or bouclé chenille for a soft, atmospheric look.
Dining chairs: bouclé chenille; count on an average of 1.5 to 2 meters for a chair without armrests.
Cushions: all three qualities are suitable, also as an accent for a sofa in a plain fabric.

Tips for working with bouclé

Cut all pieces in the same direction so that the loop structure and sheen are consistent throughout. Use sharp scissors and do not pull the fabric taut while stitching, so the loops do not stretch. Our designer upholstery fabrics offer extra options if you are looking for a striking pattern.
