Faux leather for boat upholstery

For seat cushions and boat upholstery that get wet, faux leather is the easiest to maintain. Skai AMALFI is a heavy-duty PVC faux leather developed specifically for intensive use, including in vehicles and marine applications. It is water-repellent, easy to clean and available in more than 40 colours. Want extra scratch resistance? Then choose Skai Primera (300,000 Martindale) or Montana.

SUNLIGHT for cockpit cushions

Prefer a soft, textile look? SUNLIGHT is a woven outdoor fabric in 100% olefin, 160 cm wide, water-repellent with an Easy Clean finish, UV-resistant, mould-resistant and quick-drying. You can choose from 16 colours, including sea blue, white and anthracite.

How much marine fabric do you need?

Measure each cushion: length, width and thickness. For every cushion, add up the top, the bottom and the side strip, and allow a seam allowance of about 1.5 cm all round. With 160 cm wide SUNLIGHT you can cut larger cushions from a single width of fabric. Faux leather is easy to clean afterwards with a damp cloth. Fabrics for boat cushions must meet much stricter requirements than ordinary ones interior fabrics. Boats are exposed to sunlight, salt water, wind and changing weather conditions, which can quickly discolour, wear out or mold standard fabrics. That is why special outdoor and maritime fabrics are essential for both seat and back cushions on boats. These fabrics are designed to be resistant to moisture, UV radiation, salt and mechanical stress.

The most important property of a good boat fabric is water repellency. Boat cushions often get wet due to splash water, rain or condensation. Fabrics that dry quickly and absorb little water prevent mold growth and unpleasant odors. This keeps the cushions fresh, hygienic and comfortable, even in humid conditions. Many modern boat fabrics also have a special coating that protects against salt water, making the fabric last longer.

UV resistance is a second crucial factor. On open boats, cushions are exposed to a lot of sunlight. A fabric that is not UV-resistant can quickly discolour, weaken or become brittle.
